Subject: Healthcare Chaplaincy Program for Pastor Timothy Burdick
Dear Friends,
I am excited to share with you that I am in a special missionary training program. The HEALTHCARE CHAPLAINS MINISTRY ASSOCIATION, HCMA, is a not-for-profit faith mission organization for the training and certification of healthcare Chaplains. My current training and experience at Baywood Hospital in Mesa, AZ under the supervision of Chaplain David Yanez, has been exciting and rewarding.
As a Healthcare Chaplain Missionary, I am “on call” to provide spiritual care to the patients, their families and the medical staff. As a person who is blind, I use my cane and guide dog, Ansel, to go from room-to-room visiting patients, as well as being there at a moment’s notice for emergencies, to hold a hand and bring the comfort of the Lord Jesus Christ to the sick and suffering. While this can be challenging as I must memorize the different hospital floor plans, God has shown me many times that He is larger than any challenge I face.
Truly it is Ansel who really steals the show, as a certified therapy dog he is busy cheering up patients, their families and the staff. God and Ansel do a lot of the work, and I am blessed in the process. I am able to use my gifts and talents, along with bringing my experience with challenges and my years as a pastor into this training program and hospital setting.
As a Missionary Chaplain, I need a support team for prayer, financial assistance and encouragement to support me in this special ministry work. Will you join my support team?
